Hey everyone, Malcolm Gould here. I'm transcribing this edition of Live! seeing as the station said they couldn't fit us into the schedule this weekend. That's alright though. Anyway, here's what went down.
The entrances were, ya know...entrances... Owl Man awkwardly came out, and Tucker came out, burger in hand, Overweight Championship around his shoulder and a grease stained "rise above weight" t-shirt. A fan was booing him, and to shut him up, he shoved the burger right in the fan's mouth! Took a few steps, then grabbed the burger and finished it before rolling his chubby self into the ring.
This match started off awkwardly, as anyone would expect. Owl Man was in a banging new outfit though, I was really digging it. Both men locked up, and Owl Man took the upper hand and tossed Tucker into the ropes, Tucker coming back and both men sort of...belly flopped into each other. It was weird. They both went down with a huge thud, and the crowd was not pleased.
Owl Man dragged himself to his feet first, and Clotheslines Tucker to the mat, falling on top of him clumsily but only picking up a two count from Lansing. Tucker gets to his feet, somehow ducking a shot from Owl Man and locking in a Sleeper Hold. He lets go when Owl Man is down and bends forward on Owl Man, dropping his weight and putting him on his back! He drags Owl Man to the corner, climbs to the second rope and jumps of backward, but Owl Man rolls out of the ring just in time!
Both men take longer than anyone possibly should collecting themselves, and Tucker manages to jump over the top rope and both men hit the floor, and I think I felt the arena shake! Tucker gets to his feet and grabs Owl Man by the hair, throwing him into the apron, then colliding with him harshly, rolling him in and then rolling in himself.
After about a minute, Owl Man has the advantage, throwing a punch every now and then. He whips Tucker into the ropes and dives forward with quite the display of athleticism, given the circumstances!
Lansing gets to a six count before either competitor stirs, and they alternate punches before Tucker throws Owl Man into the corner. He goes to rip the mask off of Owl Man, but is thrown to the mat. Owl Man then pretends to soar around the ring like an owl would, a huge grin on his face. Tucker climbs to his feet and there's the Peck!
Tucker falls onto his big belly and Owl Man locks in his finishing submission maneuver, Suspect Arrest! Tucker has no choice but to tap, and we have a winner in Owl Man!
The crowd hated this match, but hey, you take the good with the bad, right?
Wait...is that David Fraggle who Owl Man just high fived on his way up the ramp?
I was shocked at first to hear AC/DC blasting through the arena, until I remembered that we did just hire a guy who uses this theme. And sure enough, Barry Jones is at the stage, whiskey bottle in his hand. He belches and heads down the ramp, but wait...is that the Hardcore Championship in his hand? It is! He slides into the ring and a microphone is tossed to him.
Barry
So, I was walking through the arena last week after I signed my contract here, and I noticed this beauty hanging from a garbage can. I shined her up, but there's only so much a guy can do. Anyway, I've decided that since she's still listed as a title on the website, I'm keeping it. So Pennsylvania, here is your new Hardcore Champion!
He holds the title high for all of us to see, clearly drunk, when we see him collapse, and broken glass all over the ring.
Of all people, we are surprised to see Adam Stryker standing over Barry, and he looks at the belt. He shakes his head and grabs the microphone. He is about to speak when we hear Tom Sawyer hit. And sure enough, seconds later, we see good ol' Alex Morgan at the stage with his own microphone.
Morgan
Alright Stryker, that was kind of uncalled for. He was drunk, sure. A nuisance, sure. But he did no harm to anyone. If you want to beat someone with a glass bottle though, how about we have us a Hardcore Match next week on Live!
The crowd loves it.
Morgan
Yep. You and our Working Class Hero over there, next week, one on one, for the Hardcore Championship.
The crowd erupts and Morgan leaves. This is huge! Next week we will crown a new Hardcore Champion!
The next match is quite the rivalry. The typical, USA vs UK stuff happens. John Mercy and the Patriot come down first, and the whole thing. We have flags, we have a USA USA USA chant, and we even have the Star Spangled Banner! Then we hear the British Military "Rule Britannia" instrumental, and we have Nigel Kensington and Rupert Royston-Fellowes on the stage.
The two men seem in their own little world, a friendly banter going as they head down to the ring. They slide in and are greeted rudely by stomps from OK USA. Higgins breaks it up and backs the two teams from each other and they get ready to start. Fellowes and Mercy start in the ring, and Mercy sends Fellowes to the ropes and a Dropkick right away! He covers and barely gets a one.
OK USA keeps the advantage, minimizing the amount of ring Fellowes has to work with and they make tags frequently. Some notable moments here are to follow. The Patriot with a Superplex that almost gets the win but not quite, then tagging Mercy in who lands a beautiful Springboard Corkscrew Moonsault but still no win.
Fellowes gets the tag, putting Kensington in the ring for the first time in this match, which has been going on for about five minutes by this point. Kensington takes Mercy down with a Clothesline and holds an arm up to a barrage of boos from the crowd. He grabs Mercy by the hair and throws a few elbows after pulling him to his feet. A huge DDT follows, and a cover for just a one count.
Mercy gains the upper hand, forcing Kensington now into OK USA's corner. This is the tone of the match for about 10 minutes. The Patriot and John Mercy alternate being in the ring and dishing out punishment to the Brits, and this leads to a 21 Gun Salute, and somehow, still only a two count!
Fellowes and Mercy wound up fighting on the outside of the area, and I'm pretty sure I huge DDT onto the concrete, but Mercy somehow managed to gain the advantage of that battle, and threw Nigel into the guardrail, then immediately went to aid his partner, got the tag, and the match resumed with Mercy beating Kensington down.
Somehow, miraculously, Fellowes got to the aid of his partner, just in time, and the Patriot came to aid his own. Patriot was sent out of the ring, flat and right in front of our table, and the match ended with Rule Brittania! B.o.B picked up a very big victory tonight!
As the Brits celebrate, the camera pans to confirm my suspicion, and we see a glimpse of David Fraggle.
Cutting to the back, we see Alex Morgan and Mitch Thompson standing in Alex's office.
Morgan
Why is he here?
Thompson shrugs.
Morgan:
I'm not playing these games with the Fraggles. Get him out of here.
Thompson nods and walks out of the office. Moments later, we see him walking down the ramp. He climbs the guardrail and grabs Fraggle by the arm.
David Fraggle puts up some of an argument, showing his ticket and whatnot. I'm not sure if Thompson can actually kick him out at this point, but he's going to! That's great.
This match starts out decently energetic, the crowd digging Stryker slightly more than they do Collins. Hale takes the early advantage in the match, using a few arm drags and technical takedowns in an attempt to get into the early advantage. A Snapmare later, Stryker attempts to counter, but is instead kicked in the head by Collins.
The WBSW Champion gets up and poses, much to the chagrin of the crowd. Stryker gets to his feet, ducking away from a Dropkick, and executing a great spinning wheel kick. Collins gets right back up though, and this series ends with a DDT that plants Stryker to the mat, and an early cover by Collins, only for a two count.
Hale keeps the advantage for a couple of minutes, Suplexes galore seems to be the theme. Hale covers, but still only gets a two count, causing him to flip out a little. He goes to the top rope, but Stryker gets up and shakes the ropes enough to cause Hale to fall and land awkwardly on the mat.
Stryker gets in stance for his signature Striking Spear, titled by him as the Stryke, but when he charges, Hale sidesteps, Stryker going right into the turnbuckle. Hale locks in a Figure Four Leg Lock, and this looks like it could all be over, but Stryker gets to the ropes and breaks the hold in time to keep the match going.
After about five minutes of some back and forth action, we see the highlight reel. A beautiful Moonsault by Stryker, an awesome Springboard Corkscrew to the outside by Hale, and the Stryke is landed at one point!
After an unsuccessful pin attempt again by Stryker, he climbs to the top, but Hale somehow does this miraculous climbing the turnbuckle into an Uppercut that takes them both to the mat.
Hale is the first to his feet almost 10 seconds later, but just before the count, and the match ends with a Hale Storm and a pin!
As Hale celebrates, the last thing we see us Gunner Hughes running down the ramp and landing a huge Clothesline on Collins! Hale rolls out of the ring, all that he can do, and he stumbles up the ramp, just crawling backward away from Hughes as we end.
