Every inch of her body ached. Another big match and another aftermath which felt like she had been hit by a freight train. Such was the price Alice had to pay for being able to run with the elite of the NAW. She didn't back down from anyone or anything and whilst admirable, this sometimes self destructive trait did lead to disastrous consequences. Fortunately for her, this wasn't her own doing for once.
Bohannon, the Horizon Champion, the man who the fans once respected and maybe even loved had begun the descent into darkness, down the slippery slope from which there was no point of safe return. He'd long passed that when he started to take shots at Bull. Choking Alice out unconscious in front of the Hatebringer was merely an escalation of that turn and one hell of a way to send a message. He wasn't afraid to do what he had to in order to get the job done. He knew of the leverage Alice seemed to hold over Bull, being the only competitor in NAW to actually make him uncertain at times when he would usually be so dominant and assertive, and he knew through her, he could get to the champion and get under his skin even more.
Whilst a bold move and one Alice might have pulled herself if the tables were turned, it was something which she wished didn't have to be at her expense. It was a hard fought match which went to the wire. Determination, dedication, the two most solid and consistent performers, arguably the future of the NAW in their first clash of what will undoubtedly prove to be many, and despite the fact she had her unconscious body carried out with the Legacy title across it, despite the fact she won the match on a technical violation, she still felt like she had lost.
Her inexperience had cost her in some lights. She should have been more aware of her surroundings, she should have kept her guard ready instead of dropping it when she thought she had the victory many felt she deserved. She should have anticipated the escalation in violence and most importantly, she should have pushed harder than she did.
Despite the pundits, commentators, media and fans all saying it was one of Alice's greatest performances so far in her explosive career in NAW, she felt she had failed. Locking herself away, in the confines of her room, the curtains drawn, trying to shroud herself in darkness, Alice tried to direct her thoughts towards her next match.
The way the pieces were moving around her, it seemed like everything was falling into place to prevent her for achieving the success many felt she deserved.
Trying to keep her thoughts solely on the match ahead, Alice tried her best to concentrate on Psycho.
She couldn't help it... Every time she tried to think about the upcoming match, her mind kept going back to the Horizon title match. Feeling the life being choked out of her whilst Bohannon simply looked the other way. Some may say it was emotional detachment, showing he had the killer instinct what Alice appeared to lack when it came to getting the job done on the big stage, but to Alice, it reeked more of cowardice.
Alice tried to snap her focus back to Psycho once again.
Still with her thoughts crashing round in her head like a maelstrom, Alice clenched her fists.
Perhaps she initially over-estimated Psycho as an opponent given his recent run of performances but given how turbulent her thoughts were, it was no surprise things seemed confusing.
As Alice pushed herself up from her bed, she looked at herself in the mirror. She could just about make out her own reflection. As expected, she was bruised to high hell but it didn't matter to her, she wore the bruises with pride, it showed just how much she could take and come out the other side still fighting.

Locking herself away, in the confines of her room, the curtains drawn, trying to shroud herself in darkness, Alice tried to direct her thoughts towards her next match.
"So I have the Psycho... Another who excels in the art of unpredictable violence and has carved out quite a name for themselves too... A fitting test and arguably the hardest out of the three 'warm up matches' which were penned in for Meltdown... A match where there is every chance I will walk out of it worse than what I am going into it... Right before the big show too..."
The way the pieces were moving around her, it seemed like everything was falling into place to prevent her for achieving the success many felt she deserved.
"People may look at this and see it as a conspiracy... That NAW doesn't want a woman at the top. You've seen the way Jason Price attacked Alice White, the open hostility displayed towards her because she isn't a man. The people like Price who think we are too fragile to stand in the ring with them and will go to great lengths to try and protect their ego to the point where they would claim their identical brother wrestled in their stead, letting him take the fall and the humiliation he would have felt if he lost to me... Which we know happened. The record books will always show that I defeated you one on one first and that won't change a thing!"
Trying to keep her thoughts solely on the match ahead, Alice tried her best to concentrate on Psycho.
"So I have a man who knows no limits and is a law unto himself.... I have to fight someone like myself, someone in the middle of all of this, someone who only shows which side they are on when push comes to shove... And it makes me wonder, should this be an exercise in sending Bohannon a message? Corey already knows how I fight, we may be physically different, but it appears our skillsets are at a similar level. Bohannon too knows how I fight, but sadly, it seems in his quest for retribution, he has forgotten how he fights... The second generation technical genius reduced to nothing more than a savage hell bent on revenge"
"He couldn't even look at what he was doing. He couldn't look me in the eyes as he forced them shut with his hands around my throat... He couldn't see the monster he was becoming... And unfortunately for him, he may be finding his feet in the darkness, but he is nowhere near the monster Corey Bull is... He is only just showing his horns, fangs and claws... Only just showing how he aims to be a nightmarish entity..."
Alice tried to snap her focus back to Psycho once again.
"But he fails to realise that he will be trapped inside a steel cage with a real monster and the wild card... He fails to realise that by escalating this war, he has put himself directly in the path of myself and the Hatebringer... As Fenrir used to say, he has placed himself right in the middle of the battlefield on which the end of days will take place... He has willingly stepped into the path of Ragnarok and painted himself as the first target for a Valkyrie like myself to take him where he belongs... Not in Valhalla where the greats reside, but in Hell, the land of endless torment and torture... Because that is the fate of those who do not realise just how their actions will be judged...."
Still with her thoughts crashing round in her head like a maelstrom, Alice clenched her fists.
"And I will be the judge... I will be the one to decree whether he is fit to lift the Legacy title at the end of all of this, or if he too will be like the rest who have just fallen by the wayside... Much like my opponent, Mike Price... The man who calls himself Psycho... A former Horizon Champion... A man who made such an initial impact and then lost steam and fell behind... What use is an opponent like that if I am to send a message to Corey and Bohannon? He may be the most accomplished of the three we warriors have been selected to face, but he is also the one who has fallen the most..."
Perhaps she initially over-estimated Psycho as an opponent given his recent run of performances but given how turbulent her thoughts were, it was no surprise things seemed confusing.
"Ugh, nothing is making sense... I cannot think straight... I have to get out of this dark room and find myself again..."
As Alice pushed herself up from her bed, she looked at herself in the mirror. She could just about make out her own reflection. As expected, she was bruised to high hell but it didn't matter to her, she wore the bruises with pride, it showed just how much she could take and come out the other side still fighting.
"I must thank Corey... He shown concern for me and protected me when I was most vulnerable... I must thank him by giving it my all against Psycho and proving that I am more than ready to step into that steel prison with the devil of NAW and the monster in training... And I must prove that neither of them will be walking out with the title..."
