"Fever Run" by The Wolf plays through on the PA system and Meltdown kicks off with pyros blasting from each side of the entrance ramp. The camera pans around the Chiles Center and shows fans standing on their feet cheering and holding up various NAW themed signs. The camera then cuts to Malcolm Gould and Jim Torres sitting at ringside.
Malcolm Gould: Hello everybody and welcome to our first ever Friday Night Meltdown! We have a huge card tonight with a Horizon Championship main event to help kick off the New Year!
Jim Torres: That’s right Gould, the etching on his nameplate isn’t even cured yet and already Sutton will defend his NAW Horizon Championship against Jack Jeckel, a man who went through three other superstars to get his title shot tonight.
Malcolm Gould: That’s going to be a major test for Sutton right out of the gate as Horizon Champion to defend against a crafty veteran like Jeckel. We could possibly see a new champion crowned tonight.
Jim Torres: And speaking of new champions being crowned, what about Jenny Smith? Word is that if she wins her match tonight she’ll be next in line to challenge Kandi Washington for her newly won Femme Fatale Championship.
Malcolm Gould: Well in order to do that she has to get past Ice, one half of the NAW Tag Team Champions. That’s a very tall order.
Jim Torres: Indeed it is.
“Money Talks” by ACDC begins to play and out walks NAW Co-Owner Edric Hayes. He heads to the ring and the fans give him a warm welcome.
Gould: Here comes Mr. Hayes to kick things off. I wonder what he has on his mind?
Torres: You never know Gould. He’s been full of surprises since stepping in for Alice White. I’m hoping he’s here to announce a new cappuccino machine in the break room. I’ve been asking for one of those for months now.
Gould: I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Edric climbs into the ring and Rebecca hands him the mic as his music comes to a stop. He waits for the crowd to quiet a bit and then he raises the mic to his mouth.
Edric: Hello Portland, and Happy New Year!
The fans give him a round of cheers.
Edric: Before we get started to night I just want to quickly address a couple things. Holiday Fear is in the books. We crowned some new champions and we witnessed some other champions solidifying their title reigns. So now it’s time to look forward…to our next Supercard, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
Edric pauses for a moment as the fans cheer at the mention of St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
Edric: St Valentine’s Day Massacre will take place on February 17th and headlining that event will be Jason Price defending his NAW Legacy Championship against number one contender Jason Phoenix. It will all go down inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Again the fans cheer and Edric has to pause again.
Edric: As far as the rest of the card goes, much of that is still up in the air so that will be revealed in due time. I am certain of one thing however…at St. Valetine’s Day Massacre every single NAW title belt will be on the line.
More cheers.
Torres: Did you hear that Gould? The NAW is going to Vegas!
Gould: St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in the entertainment capital of the world!? That’s going to be huge!
Edric: Now before I go I just have one more thing. Since it’s such a huge step for us to take our promotion to Las Vegas, I want to try to make this year’s St. Valentine’s Day Massacre show the best we’ve ever done. And I want you, the fans, to help me do that. So we’re going to put a poll up on naw.com and let you vote on what type of match the NAW Legacy Championship match will be. Will it be a cage match? A streetfight? Last man standing? It’s all going to be up to you.
Torres: What? He’s going to let these people decide what type of match Jason Price and Jason Phoenix wrestle in for the NAW Legacy Championship? I’m not too sure that either of these guys are going to like this.
Gould: Well like it or not these fans are now in control of the main event at this year’s St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
Edric: Thank you everybody and enjoy the show tonight. Back to you Rebecca.
Edric hands the mic back to Rebecca and exits the ring.
