Excerpts from a press conference with Alex Morgan
[Alex Morgan is seen standing behind the podium after addressing reporters regarding some of the bigger things going on in NAW. The following clip is from the Question and Answer portion of the conference.]
Q: What do you plan on doing regarding the Kandi Washington lawsuit?
A: As I've said before, I have no intentions of giving in. I, as well as my attorneys, feel that this is a wrongful suit, and the accusations are unjust.
Q: How do you plan to prove that?
A: Well, we feel that the video footage in question, during the match at the pay-per-view speaks for itself. The spot that the accusation stems from was a simple roll up pin, and it happens all the time.
Q: Do you feel like putting a Women's division into play may have prevented this?
A: I feel that that is irrelevant. Although she does feel this way because of it coming from a male vs a female, I believe that it wouldn't really have been any different.
Q: Do you intend to add a women's division?
A: I don't think that there is currently a need for that. The women on my roster know that there is no division suited just for them, as I believe in equality to all of our talent. A women's division would hinder that equality.
Q: Have you received any word regarding the health of the Black Circle Boys' member Shawn Ryder?
A: Mr. Ryder has been in the hospital since the incident, and I will be giving the fans word as I hear it from the doctors. As I have mentioned this morning, he is in stable, yet still critical condition.
Q: Do you feel that this might spark any protests to perform in dangerous matches among roster members?
A: These men took it upon themselves to go to those lengths during the match. They were aware of the risks when they took them, and have all assured me that they do not seek an compensation for their health at risk.
Q: What about Lark Fenriz?
A: Lark is in great physical health, only suffering from a few cuts, scrapes, bumps, and bruises. He didn't have anything more than a few minor injuries. Although we haven't heard from him, his publicist has told us that nobody representing him has heard from him either.
Q: Do you feel like this match has anything to do with that?
A: I think he feels like he could have lost his partner in this match, which very well may be hindering him to return. We will learn these things in due time.
Q: You named Virgil Keenan the new number one contender for the NAW Championship, although he hasn't really had the greatest win loss record since his arrival. What sparked you to find him to be the best fit?
A: My choices don't come based on a simple win-loss record. They come from what men and women on the roster will do and show for this company. Mr. Keenan has shown me every ounce of heart, determination, and willpower in all of his matches, and I feel like every time, he has laid it all on the line for the company. I think things will bode well for him if he keeps up with what he has shown us this far in his time here.
Q: Some people think that you are slowly losing power in the company after the arrival of Robert Martin and Isaac Bloom. Do you care to comment about these rumors?
A: They are simply that, rumors. Mr. Martin and Mr. Bloom are only here to help with funding and outside decision making. Almost all responsibilities still fall on me and are in my hands.
Q: Do you feel even the slightest twinge of fear or anxiety that they might try to steal control from you?
A: Most definitely not. They have assured me, and is in the contract we signed that I am to remain the majority owner, and have last say in all major decisions about the direction we have decided to go.
[Morgan looks off to the side and nods, then waves to the reporters as a sign that time has run up and he is finished with questions as the scene fades out.]
