"Remember when you were a kid? Remember all those life lessons they instilled in you. As soon as you were old enough to process rational thinking you were constantly told to be good, honest and humble, amongst other things. From a very young age they teach us to always strive for the very best, to look beyond your current situation and dream of something much bigger and better. But in reality that's not always an option, is it? What about when you reach the pinnacle of your career and you've achieved the holy grail of your profession? Some might argue that THAT is it. What more is there to achieve? And they wouldn't necessarily be wrong. But life doesn't come with a cruise control button and what separates those who are successful from those who simply have enough talent to achieve... is hard work."
"Hard work is the key to everything, and the driving force on the road to where you want to go. And success? Well success isn't really a destination, success is the road, the road that you're constantly travelling along. To be successful means you're working hard and walking your walk each and everyday. The truth is, you can only live your dream by working hard towards it. You should always work towards achieving something bigger and better than what you currently have because success has no end destination. It's not defined by an individual achievement, but rather by an individual's achievements. If you think you've done it all, well, keep on looking."
"Not so long ago I was a staple of the British independent wrestling scene, and I had pretty much achieved all that I could. At least, all that they allowed me to. I was beating every wrestler they put in front me, I had arrived, as they say. There was a time where I was happy to be where I was, wrestling in front of my home fans each and every week. Life was good. But deep down, I always knew there was something more; something else out there for me."
"That thing was success. More success, bigger success. Different success. I had to carve a new path, a new road to where I needed to be heading. In the end, just as it goes for anything else in the world, America offered the biggest market, so that's where my road took me next."
"And now here we are. This Friday is the night that I, Jake Sullivan, will make my debut in North Atlantic Wrestling. A new direction for me to take my career, my talents and yes, my success. Now I make no secret of my commitments, I'm an independent wrestler trying to make a living. I work hard and I wrestle a lot. NAW, FAW, SAP, I take bookings all over the world. We're all just working the hustle at the end of the day, running the roads and getting our name out there. NAW isn't my only employer, but of all the North American territories THIS was the one that inspired me the most."
"I remember watching this place from afar, thinking to myself, 'if I can get to NAW, I've made it, I've hit the big time.' There was a time that just being a permanent fixture here was something to be proud of, regardless of how successful you were. NAW was a conveyer belt of talent to the legendary UWL. And those that left the company were instantly recognisable and often successful wherever they went. Gunner Hughes, David Fraggle, Corey Bull, The Black Circle Boys, just some of the great names that passed through this place and went onto achieve great things. But look at it now. Last month I sat through two whole hours of their end of year showpiece, Holiday Fear. Two hours of mediocrity with names that aren't even recognised in their own household! The best thing about Holiday Fear was probably the debut of Misha LeCavalier. At least she's a name you can recognise."
"Maybe I'm a victim of my own naivety. Had I known this place wasn't what it once was I may have looked elsewhere. I was the hottest independent wrestler in Europe. Companies were throwing themselves at me. I came here to increase my stock. To face the best of the best, and make myself into something better than I already am. The way I see it, this place is drowning. But I can rescue it. I'm not turning my back on this place because it hasn't lived up to my expectations. I will become a big name here, perhaps the biggest in recent times, and I will drag this place up with me. I can't do that when I'm curtain jerking against the likes of Jake Wakefield and Luke Savage."
"Because I'm a firm believer that opportunities aren't just presented to you on a silver platter but rather, you have to go make your own opportunities out of nothing. This Friday, I plan on doing exactly that. Because let's be honest this match is possibly a stepping stone for someone to bigger and better things, an opportunity for someone to prove they're worthy enough of stepping foot inside an NAW ring. Three of us will enter that ring, but only one can emerge victorious. Now I know that I am capable, more than capable in fact, of winning this triple threat match. I couldn't give a toss where these two men have been before now, and that's the honest truth, because for me, I'm the only person that matters in that ring. This match is about making first impressions and you only get one shot at those. What better way to make a first impression than going out there and beating not one, but two men, both vying to do the same thing as myself. We all want the same thing. No doubt we all believe we can do it. We've all proven we can do it in our past, but our past doesn't matter. Not now. Not today. The only thing that matters is this match and our futures in North Atlantic Wrestling. Because I don't know about you guys, but I am here to make a name for myself in one of, or what WAS, the most reputable company in the United States of America. I've come here to compete for championships, to see my name on the lineage and etched into golden plates on leather straps. I am a title whore, and Im not ashamed to admit it."
"But perhaps more importantly than proving to NAW management that I belong here, tonight is about proving it to myself. Tonight, I find out whether I'm just a glorified star back in England, or a mainstay in North America. Everything I've already achieved since arriving here is insignificant. I could have come here today with my FAW Hardcore championship. But none of that matters. This is about me and NAW. This Friday I'm going to prove to myself that I have the ability that I have always thought I've had. So Jake, and Luke, show up, bring the best versions of yourselves. Show me a version of NAW I haven't yet seen. Prove to me that this place can be great again."
