The scene opens up with a shadow in the darkness and a cloud of smoke nearing the cameras. As the figure grows closer, the image of it grows increasingly scary. The arms of this figure have been extended out and his head is cocked back. He just pops through the smoke barely to reveal his face. Jason Phoenix is standing in the cloud of smoke with his eyes completely whiten over. He snarls at the camera and brings his arms out in front of him while pointing his fingers to the camera’s lens. He begins to speak.
“While in your feeble little mind Jason, you might think I’ve fallen into your trap, but the way I perceive this match to be is my reality. Jason, I might have believed I have fallen in your trap had you managed to outwitted or outsmarted me in the past, but truth be told Jason those are just falsities running through your brain. When I used resources to gain the upper hand over you back during our first encounter, you didn’t entrap me into any situation. I trapped you. I used the number’s game to my advantage and won. Then when I pinned you in the six-man tag team match, you were blatantly distracted by my lovely wife and her friend as they kidnapped your precious championship belt. I was able to capitalized on the distraction, which proved to be completely harmful to your standing as Legacy Champion.”
He looks down at his waist and briefly closes his eyes as he tries to imagine the title is already there. Phoenix continues to speak while staring down at his waist.
“By the way Jason, how are your alleged mind games working out for you? I look well prepared for our title match, but you? You’re resorting to any tactic you can come up with in order to pull out one of the biggest victories in your career. The point of playing mind games is to get the mental advantage over your opposition and well, I see the only person affected by any mind game is you. Where did you find your title after the main event was over? You found it backstage with the Phoenix across the gold plated face of your title. You saw your entire future flash before your eyes Jason, didn’t you? How did it feel? Scary? You better believe it’s a scary cold world out there Jason Price and after you’ve been dethroned, you will have no protection from the harsh reality.”
Phoenix slowly raises his head up along with his left hand clenched into a fist while cringing out of spite.
“You can’t face that harsh reality because you’re afraid of looking at the future as a nobody. You are going to go back being that simpleton nobody looks at it, or respects. So no, I’m not the least bit concerned with your empty threats Jason and I’m certainly not amused by your beliefs. You may feel you fit the mold of a beloved champion, but these people, you call fans, look at you in dishonor. They look at your title reign wondering how, why, and was it inevitable to stop. Nobody saw the end of Noah Hanson’s reign, especially as short as it was. I was looking forward to challenging Noah Hanson for the Horizon Championship when life suddenly took its toll on him. The poor soul was unable to fight whatever sickness he started to suffer from inside. His soul and heart just wasn’t in the sport. That sickness was failure and I was the one who gave him that doubt. You can try to convince yourself that you are this great champion all you want, but I know I will make a far more superior Legacy Champion because the biggest victory I have beneath my belt is one over Noah Hanson. His first pin-fall loss in the company and it proved I belonged in the main event.”
He cocks his head up to the sky and Phoenix looks up at the moon. He licks his lips.
“The time you’ve managed to stay in this company is surely irrelevant to a match like this because the length of time you’ve been employed with NAW shows an insignificant factor. The only thing worth anything is your reign as co-tag team championships. Just as you needed a stipulation like a ladder match to win the Legacy Championship, you needed assistance to keep the tag team championships within yours and Sexy Jason’s grasps. So no, I’m not convinced you have me where you want me, but I have you exactly what I need you. I need you where you are because it’s going to be these bare hands that snatches your dreams, hopes, and aspirations like a thief in the night. It’s going to be me who is looking down at this pitiful mortal inside the four-sided cell wondering who this is beneath my feet. After its all said and done, my wife will be putting your Legacy Championship around my waist and your greatest nightmare will have come true.”
With Phoenix’s hand around his throat, he starts massaging his neck.
“I’m already foreseeing a rematch at the following Meltdown because no mortal who looks at the Legacy Championship the way you do is going to drop his title without a fight. I couldn’t help, but eavesdrop over you and your brother’s little conservation about possibility leaving the NAW. Does your pride not stand in this company? Loss after loss has finally beaten you to a point of no return? Or is this the curse of superstars? Gunner Hughes. Virgil Keenan. Corey Bull. Alice Harris. Rocky Hollywood. Noah Hanson. Can we see you as the next former Legacy Champion who leaves the company after losing their status in NAW? It certainly would seem like a curse to the logical eye. It is beyond laughable the way you praise your brother for his success in this company, but you’re the brother with all the successes. Sexy Jason has been hiding in your shadows for a very long time and he wants to see you hightail it out of NAW because by doing so, he would then have an opportunity to attempt on soaring through the rankings. The only problem with this thinking is his days are numbered. Your kid brother is as useless as a three-dollar bill and has proven that in every single tag team match that the Jason’s have come up short in.”
He tilts his head down and starts grinning down at the floor.
“Price, if you do choose some other establishment to enter in: let’s hope Sexy Jason enters into the Legacy Championship’s tournament to decide my new number one contender. Did you like how that sounded Jason Price? Deciding my new number one contender?”
He snarls with a grin.
“It would be no better honor than to defeat both Jason’s for the prominent championship in NAW. It will finally see a champion who fears nobody; fears nothing; and fears no ending. But first, even if his goal was to win the tournament, he would have to go through far more superior superstars than him and that’s a challenge he would never be up for because of his cowardly ways. But in the meantime, back to you and this hell in a cell match. Jason Price, you did say something that rang true and even I had been saying it all week long. There will be no outside interferences. No distractions. No cheating tactics. No rules. No holds barred. Just one mortal man trying to show the world that the PHOENIX can be killed. I’ve said from day one, the Phoenix can never die off because the Phoenix will always rise from the ashes in one form or another. I lurk through the skies, preying on the little sheep that roam my domain. I lurk in the shadows, instilling fear in my opponents. I lurk in the underworld, searching for souls to steal on the earth’s floor. The Phoenix will always be resurrected, but this won’t be an era of resurrection because the Phoenix is not going to be beat.”
The Phoenix spreads his arms out to his sides like a bird and temporary closes his eyes while continuing to speak.
“The only bit of hope you’re hanging onto is the hope that you can break the curse of losing to me. You’re holding onto the belief that ‘the third time is a charm.’ It clearly didn’t work in the instance of Kat and Kandi, and it’s not going to work in our situation. I will always be the one force that is unbeatable to you. Untouchable to your grasp. Every flaw. Every mistake. Every weakness. It will all be exposed when we are locked inside the cell. Once that door locks, you will be in my HELL! You will have to answer to me for all your sins. Winning shouldn’t be your primary option, but surviving should!”
He says as he backs up into the darkness and the scene fades to smoke.
“While in your feeble little mind Jason, you might think I’ve fallen into your trap, but the way I perceive this match to be is my reality.
